Program 1:DirM S_S
This program allows the user to defragment hard drives with a user-friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface). It is recommended to install Buzzsaw-S with DirMS-S. DirMS-S performs the initial defragmentation of the drive and Buzzsaw-S keeps the drive defragmented “on-the-fly”.
This program runs as a Windows Service. All user accounts on a computer can be given access to this program. Admin rights are only required during installation
Supported Operating Systems: Windows2000 and Windows XP. DirMS-S does NOT support WindowsNT.
Program 2: Buzzsaw-S
This program continuously keeps hard drives defragmented with “on-the-fly” defragmentation. It monitors the drive and detects when fragmentation occurs. Once fragmentation occurs, the program automatically corrects the fragmentation. It waits until the CPU usage is minimal before performing the defragmentation.
Initial configuration of Buzzsaw-S is done from a user-friendly GUI (Graphic User Interface). After the initial configuration, defragmentation is automatic and no action is necessary by the user. Buzzsaw-S will be automatically started after rebooting of the computer.

Program 3: DirMS-CL
DirMS-CL is executed as a command line program. It is recommend for advanced users. This program can be used to implement scheduled defragmentation. See Scheduled Task Help. DirMS-CL can only be used with Admin Rights.
Supported Operating Systems: WindowsNT, Windows2000 and Windows XP.
These programs can be downloaded and used for free. The free versions have limited functionality and must be re-registered on the DIRMS website every 30 days.
OS and File System versions supported.
These programs can be used with Windows XP, 2000, and NT (not all versions support NT) and with the file systems NTFS, FAT32, and FAT. For more information see OS and File System versions supported.
What can DIRMS and Buzzsaw do that other defragmentation programs cannot?
Windows Built-in Defragmentation program - Cannot perform On-the-Fly or scheduled defragmentation. Does not do a good job defragmenting drives that are very full or have very large files. Does not do partial file defragmentation.
Other Defragmentation programs – Usually expensive, especially for Server versions. Most don’t do On-the-Fly or scheduled defragmentation. Most don’t do partial file defragmentation. Some don’t perform well with very full drives.
